Panama Getaway Planning

My sister and I are trying to plan a little getaway together in June. It is always a little tricky for us to figure out where we can meet up. Since she lives in the USVI in the Caribbean and I am up in Ann Arbor it can be difficult for us to both find flights to the same place at around the same arrival and departure times for a reasonable price.

Her island has very limited flight options but after a some investigative work it is looking like we are going to be able to meet up in Panama. I am really excited. Not only does offer the chance to see the Panama Canal but there are so many other wonderful places to explore.

I want to visit the old city, Panama Viejo, as well as Casco Viejo to see some of the beautiful architecture. I also want to travel to El Valle, a small town situated in a dormant volcano crater, to enjoy the mountains and surrounding forests.

We are still in the early stages of planning (getting flights and working out some accommodations) but hopefully it all comes together. Do you have any summer getaways coming up? Where are you going (or wish you were going)? Are you in the midst of planning right now?

What fun to plan a trip with your sister. I hear that the history of Panama is rich. So far our only summer trip plans are to visit Kingston, ON for a niece's wedding and a few day trips to discover local waterfalls. I would really like to be planning a trip either east to visit PEI or Newfoundland or go in the other direction to visit Alberta and BC - both have the combination of what we love best, mountains, trees and water.

I am going to Williamsburg, VA this summer for a short vacation. I'm also doing some research on the Galapagos trip. I just ordered the Lonely Planet book.

I am planning a girl getaway to Miami and the Bahamas in June. I'm hoping to see some wonderful ladies, who I haven't seen in awhile since they live so far away. It's pretty awesome that we get to jump on a plane from our little corner of the world, and meet up wherever we desire these days. Life is good. Also, thank you for sharing your awesome Florida pictures. I hope we will be able experience at least half of the wonderful wildlife you were able to capture in the Everglades.

Mary-Lou- I went to Kingston a few years ago and thought it was a beautiful college town on the water. I would also love to go to Newfoundland and PEI. I've wanted to goto PEI ever since I read the Anne of Green Gables books when I was little.

Rene- I am very jealous of your Galapagos trip. I bet you are going to see some really amazing wildlife while you are there!

Ethylene- My friend, Trisha, and I did a girl getaway to Miami and the Bahamas last year and had a ball. It is wonderful to see friends you haven't seen in a while, isn't it?
